A quality Epson printer can work for many years with the proper maintenance. By taking the right measures to prolong the lifespan of your printer, you can avoid costly repairs and never worry about your printer breaking down at any moment.
Keep reading to learn more about how to properly maintain your Epson printer.
Inkjet printer maintenance
The first step is to do a nozzle check if you notice the quality print deteriorating. To carry out a nozzle check, you put a A4 piece of paper in the printer, click ‘Nozzle Check’ or its equivalent and wait for the printout.
With the printout, you can then see how well your nozzles are performing. If everything is functioning correctly, there should be a rainbow of colors with each color representing a different nozzle. If you can see thin lines, colors suddenly shifting or becoming lighter, the nozzle had most probably been clogged or misaligned.
If you find a problem with a specific nozzle, a deep clean would be necessary. Usually, you can find this option on your computer when you go to the ‘properties’ menu. If you can’t find it, the second method would be to look for the best course of action to take in the printer instructions manual. A deep clean is a process that takes around 2 minutes to complete.
If the nozzle head has to be realigned, it is not recommended to use universal instructions because it’s a model specific piece of equipment. The most effective method to use would be to go look into the manual of the printer
The most effective way to realign the nozzle head is to look into the manual of the machine and access the printer software via the application in use for printing, then click the utility tab and select ‘Print Head Alignment’ or a similar option.
Laser printer maintenance
To maintain a laser printer, the recommended method is to remove the toner cartridge and to directly clean it manually. The biggest part in cleaning the toner cartridge is to remove the excess toner that is found in the nooks and crannies of the printer using a soft cloth.
Once this is done, you need to take a cleaning sheet and put into the printer the same way you would put an A4 piece of paper. The paper should ‘absorb’ the excess dirt that was left inside.
